This is Clare and Dave from Teleatherapy.
As you may know, Teleatherapy is a platform for providing care to people with Parkinson's disease. We would love for you to join our journey as we:
We would love for you to be a part of our Seed Round and we hope this site helps get you as excited as we are about our future.
Thanks,
Clare & Dave
Clare's research and clinical experience led her to identify these problems with care for Parkinson's disease:
It's hard for individiuals with Parkinson's disease to access voice therapy. It's expensive and in-person therapy can be physically challenging to attend.
Providing care for Parkinson’s patients is very time-intensive for speech therapists. This limits the number of patients they can have on their caseload and causes a growing waitlist for care.
Our patients practice voice therapy each day with a programme tailored to them by their speech therapist.
Exercises are personalised to them, frequency and difficulty of exercises are tuned to their needs — time availablity, cognitive & technological ability and progression of symptoms.
Access care much more easily and much more affordably
Practice as much as they want in their own time
Have their practice monitored by a therapist to improve their care
Therapists use our platform to monitor patients' progress and adjust care to their needs.
Our platform learns from therapist decision-making and is able to suggest care interventions based on similar previous cases.
Be more efficient with patients → see more patients
Have better data on patients' progress and deliver better outcomes
Use AI-driven decision-making

Parkinson's affects 12,000+ people in Ireland and 10,000,000+ worldwide. It's the fastest growing neurodegenerative disease, aided by an aging population and crucially we can have a real impact on the quality of life of individuals with the disease.
Early speech therapy intervention is needed to help slow decline and maintain their voice for up to an additional two years.
Why Now?
As a result of the pandemic, there has been a large movement towards telehealth which would not have been possible a few years ago. In addition, older people have become familiar with video conferencing and mobile devices in order to communicate over the past two years.
Asking an 80-year-old to see a speech & language therapist over zoom would have been a big hurdle just two years ago but is now taken in stride.
Long-term potential growth areas
After achieving product-market fit with our initial offering, we could expand into:
The data we collect to monitor patients' voices can correlate voice strength with medication — useful data for the drug manufacturer.
With our existing customers we could expand vertically into physical or occupational therapy e.g. helping with tremors or swallowing.
We could add support for voice therapy for other neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Motor Neuron Disease) or other speech conditions.
Business Model
We sell licences to our platform as a Software-as-a-Service model. We have focussed on direct-to-consumer so far as it has enabled us to validate and iterate the app. However, our goal is to sell to hospitals & clinics in the US to use with their patients as we can scale much larger that way.
We charge a monthly subscription to patients, often paid for by their Parkinson's association. Currently charging a reduced rate of €75/month during the trial.
This can be reimbursed by the three main health insurance providers in Ireland.
As our focus shifts from B2C to B2B, we will charge clinics €100/month per patient, sold as multi-year contracts with extra capacity.
Route-to-Market
In order to build out our platform to be used by clinics, we will work with a small number of NHS Parkinson's clinics in the UK. These will be paying customers using an early version of our platform. The goal here is to learn and iterate quickly so that our platform is ready for a full launch after our Series A.
We initially begin with the NHS in the UK as they are in the same timezone, English-speaking and have many more specialty Parkinson's clinics than Ireland. We have two NHS clinics on our waiting list at the moment and expect them to be our first B2B customers. We also plan to trial in the US to test the market before our actual launch.

After firming up our platform for a launch and raising a Series A round, our focus will be on expansion into clinics in the US.
We have chosen the US because:
As average deal size will be quite high, we are planning on taking a direct outreach approach. We have our first call with the largest healthcare provider in New York (they have more staff than the HSE) and have validated our approach with a similar startup in the Physiotherapy space.
